Salt Lake Title & Escrow Company was incorporated on February 25, 1987 as an all woman-owned company by Angie McKinnon (it's current owner)and three other partners, two of which had been her associates for several years at another Title Insurance Agency and one of whom was one of their longtime clients. During the past several years at various intervals, Angie purchased the shares of her partners and is presently the sole-owner of Salt Lake Title & Escrow Company. Now the company has been transformed into a family business with all but two employees being related.
Salt Lake Title & Escrow Company closes real estate transactions and issues title insurance policies all across Utah. A Title Insurance Policy is an insured statement of the condition of title, or ownership of real property. Prior to the issuance of a policy, a title report or commitment for title insurance is prepared after a search of records, maps, and documents affecting the parcel in question. For a one-time premium, the policy protects the named insured against title defects, liens, and encumbrances existing as of the date of the policy and not specifically excepted from coverage. In the event of a challenge that calls into question the terms of a title policy, Salt Lake Title & Escrow Company's underwriter, First American Title Insurance Company, provides legal defense for the policy holder and promptly pays all valid claims or losses up to the amount of the policy. Methods of transferring real property vary according to state, county, or local practices. Policy holders generally are purchasers of real property or lenders who make loans secured by real property.
Salt Lake Title & Escrow Company is a Co-owner of Research Unlimited, a joint title plant venture along with six other title insurance. Our title and escrow operations are fully automated to provide our clients with one of the best turn-around times in the industry.
